At 15 years old, Dubón was seen playing baseball by a group of Christian missionaries who visited their country to donate sports equipment. Seeing the young man’s talent, they invited him to move to the United States. to hone his skills while continuing his secondary education.

Dubón bravely accepted the challenge and moved to Sacramento, California, where he became an exchange student at Capital Christian High School. His time in high school left an indelible mark in the institution’s baseball history, posting an impressive .509 batting average and being recognized as the best defensive player among the 2013 amateur draft selections by the Red Sox.

In the 2019 season, Mauricio Dubón made his Major League Baseball debut (MLB) with the Brewers.
