Indeed, over the past 240 years since its independence, the United States and its ideology have worked to gain dominance in a unipolar world through wars and military expansion, and built an American-style democracy or “American democracy” based on domination and bullying of other countries. Its actions have been driven not only by the nature of capitalism’s greed for expansion and profit, but also by its ambition and megalomaniacal pursuit of power, as well as manipulation through domestic politics and interest groups.

Over the centuries, in order to maintain its position of global military dominance, the United States has resorted to obvious means such as waging wars, conducting military interventions, and building a global network of military bases, and to obscure means such as a system of alliances that it leads and international rules that it dominates, and it has also used models, technologies, and concepts that are alien to new circumstances, with the aim of preventing any potential competitor from threatening its dominant position.

In Syria, we are facing American hegemony, which is manifested in two scenarios: the first is through direct military occupation of the Syrian island and support for separatist projects there. The second is through economic siege, starvation of the Syrian people and deprivation of the necessities of life.

So when Xinhua sheds light on the issue of American hegemony, it knows that the issue is much more than that, and perhaps it wants to clarify that the unipolar world is a thing of the past and that it is necessary for the world to be multipolar, because American military hegemony, which is based on bullying and tyranny, poses grave dangers to the world and poses unprecedented challenges to human society. It does not promote peace and security, but rather creates wars and disasters, does not achieve equality and freedom, does not allow for development and cooperation, but rather causes conflicts and divisions.
