Today’s episode of Real TV’s “Real Interview” program is dedicated to June 15 National Liberation Day and the anniversary of the signing of the Shusha Declaration.
Publika.az reports that the guest of the program, head of “Telegraf” Media Group, political scientist Aynur Jamal spoke about June 15, 1993 being a turning point in the history of Azerbaijan in the full sense of the word.
He said that Heydar Aliyev came to power at a time when our state was facing the threat of disintegration and destruction, when the people had no hope for tomorrow, and precisely as the only place of hope for the people.
“During his time in power, Heydar Aliyev took all measures to liberate Karabakh from occupation. About a year ago, in the city of Shusha, we watched the film “Iz” produced by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. “Iz” is a valuable screen work based on historical facts and documents, reflecting Heydar Aliyev’s activities related to Karabakh. It is very clear from the chronology in that film that Heydar Aliyev based all his activities on the return of the Azerbaijani people to the occupied lands. What we have achieved now is the logical result of Heydar Aliyev’s unparalleled activity, and it is no coincidence that it was implemented and completed by Heydar Aliyev’s political successor, Ilham Aliyev, who took Azerbaijan out of the 200-year failure zone and turned it into a leading state in the region,” Aynur Jamal noted.
Aynur Jamal emphasized that the Shusha Declaration was also signed on June 15 and emphasized that this was not accidental. He recalled the Kars Agreement of 1921 and recalled that the security of Nakhchivan under the guarantee of Turkey protected the autonomous republic from great troubles and actual occupation in the most difficult years of our country, in the early 90s. He noted that the Shusha Declaration, which was signed exactly 100 years after the Kars Treaty and on the Independence Day, is the guarantee of the sovereignty and independence of Azerbaijan as a whole.
The political scientist said that Azerbaijan applied the model of the second most powerful army of NATO – the army of Turkey, and this process has already been completed. On the other hand, the fact that Turkey and Azerbaijan perceive an attack on each other’s territory as an attack on their own territory and document it is a great example for the Turkish states:
“The Shusha Declaration also expands the opportunities for Azerbaijan to act as a regional power. Look at the latest processes in the region: the successive visits of US Secretary of State Blinken’s deputies to Armenia, demands and proposals, internal upheavals, clashes, including what happened in Georgia, bring to mind pressures from the West due to an ordinary law and so on. Azerbaijan is protected from all these pressures, Azerbaijan is now recognized as a regional player, and the reason for this is also our strategic alliance with Turkey, the existence of an agreement such as the Shusha Declaration.
A. Jamal also emphasized that with the arrival of Heydar Aliyev on June 15, 1993, Azerbaijan received a guarantee of its existence as a state, and was saved from disintegration, division, and disappearance as a state, and on June 15, 2021, a strong, The future of mighty Azerbaijan was guaranteed.
