After an absence of around 15 years, the Angolan band “Impactos 4”, which was successful from the 80s to 2004, is returning to the stage and will release an album in 2020 that should feature 8 or 10 musical tracks.
Speaking to Notícias de Angola, Eduína Semedo, mentioned that the group came to the conclusion that the smart thing would not be to compress the 8 or 10 musical tracks on a CD, but to release the songs gradually with their video clips to guarantee their consumption and avoid the case where only two songs are highlighted.
“Impactos 4 today serves as a reference and strength for those who want to make music live”.
Without revealing the names or the number of possible participants, Eduína guaranteed that the album will only feature instrumentalists and the public can expect a persistent Impactos 4 with a lot of good work to provide.
The singer took the opportunity to share with the public that 2019 was very positive and that the focus for 2020 is to continue on stage.
“I have a very positive assessment of this year. For 2020 the focus is to continue on stage, we have an album to release, I can’t tell you what month it is yet. But it’s already our return to the stage.”.
Founded in 1982 in the city of Lobito, province of Benguela, by Orlando Semedo (pianist and conductor of the ensemble at the time), the band is today composed of Yola Semedo (voice and keyboard), Eduina Semedo (voice and bass guitar), Jorge Semedo (voice and guitar) and Alcino Semedo (drums and musical production).
Authors of well-known songs such as “Maguy”, “Olha a Fruta” and “Sem Você”. They represented Angola in 1985, at the International Festival of the United Nations Science, Education and Culture Organization (UNESCO), in Bulgaria, in which Yola Semedo was distinguished as “Golden Voice of Africa”.
In 1987 they won the Provincial Song Festival in Benguela and, the following year, they came second in the National Song Festival.
Three years later (1990) they emigrated to Namibia, where, in 1991, they recorded their first album: “Olha a Fruta”. Eight years later, they released the album “É Hora”, with which they won the “Disc of the Year” trophy.
In 2001 they released their third album with the theme “Love to Win”. Text: Victória Pinto
