The Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, said that two months or around April, his party had sent a letter to the Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, asking for a replica or backup of the 800 data in PDN.
“We have 800 files, of which PDN has 200 backups. So in April we wrote to the Ministry of Communication and Information, asking for backups to be made in April,” said Silmy at a press conference, Friday (28/6/2024).
However, Silmy revealed that the request at that time was not responded to by Kominfo. So he asked his staff to continue to update regularly through the internal backup of the Immigration Data Center (Pusdakim).
“What is clear is that in April we have asked for a replica to be made (there is no data backup clause). Indeed, there was no answer. That’s why we prepared it at Pusdakim,” he explained.
The reason Silmy requested a data backup on the PDN managed by Kominfo was because after checking for some time, no backup data was found that should have been provided by the PDN.
“There we asked to check to make sure, well we just found out some time after sending the letter. Our assumption is that PDN provides a mirror. If they have a mirror, where would they put it, because that’s still PDNS, right?” he explained.
However, Silmy said that the problem of data backup had been resolved with internal data stored at Pusdakim. So that currently immigration services are running 100%.
“From 800 there are only 190 (from PDN backup), which can be used 7 to revive the shortage. That’s why we only use that Pusdakim, it’s okay if there is a gap, but it’s a matter of time we can fill it,” he said.
Just for information, a few days ago the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) was down due to a cyber attack. This has been confirmed by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
As a result, a number of government services were disrupted, one of which was immigration which had to be run manually at that time. This step was taken as an emergency effort for the service recovery process.
