JAKARTA – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has closed public visits to the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) project until September. This is in order to accelerate construction work, especially for the development of basic infrastructure.

Based on the report, this closure is in order to accelerate the progress of basic infrastructure work built by the government, such as asphalting the west axis road, the east axis road, construction of visitor platforms, and parking area work areas.

“After the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, development in the IKN will be continued, where there are 68 work packages with very high intensity and carried out simultaneously. For this reason, public visits to the IKN will be temporarily closed until September 2024,” wrote the official Instagram account of the PUPR Ministry quoted, Saturday (24/8/2024).

Meanwhile, the Balikpapan – KIPP IKN toll road, which was previously opened functionally for the celebration of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day at the IKN, is currently also closed again until construction work is completed.

The announcement explained that official visits can still be carried out on a limited basis by attaching several requirements. The requirements for agency/official visits are as follows:

1. Obtain written permission from the Head of the IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force Team cq Head of BPPW Kalimantan and/or Deputy for Development Control of OIKN
2. Held on Thursday/Friday
3. Maximum number of visitors is 15 people
4. Maximum number of vehicles is 3 units
5. Always pay attention to aspects of safety, health, security, cleanliness and tidiness.
