IFA 2024 Kicks Off with Artificial Intelligence Innovations in Berlin

Consumer electronics fair IFA 2024 opened its doors in Berlin, the capital of Germany, with artificial intelligence innovations.

Known as Europe’s largest consumer electronics fair, IFA 2024 is dominated by Asian companies, especially from China and South Korea, while 52 companies from Turkey are also participating this year.

The Electrical and Electronics Exporters’ Association (TET) is participating in the fair from Turkey nationally, with 21 companies in a 400 square meter area. In addition, 31 companies such as Vestel, Arzum and Kumtel are participating in the fair with their own means and exhibiting their new products.

Visiting the Turkish stands at the opening of the fair, Turkish Consul General in Berlin İlker Okan Şanlı listened to the requests and complaints of Turkish business people.

TET Board Chairman Güven Uçkan, who organized the national participation in the fair from Turkey, told AA correspondent that they organize sectoral trade delegations, purchasing delegations and fair organizations every year in order to support the export activities of the approximately 6 thousand members of the Union.

Uçkan said, “We completed our activities in 9 countries from 3 continents in 2023 with the aim of increasing the exports of our electrical and electronics sector, which is the fifth largest sector with a total share of 6.5 percent in Turkey’s exports. In 2024, we brought together our exporters with buyers in 11 countries from 4 continents.”

Uçkan, who explained that they organized Turkey’s National Participation Organization once again this year at IFA Berlin, stated that they believe that the fair, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, will provide an important business environment for companies participating from Turkey.

Uçkan shared the information that 19 white goods sub-industry companies and 2 small home appliances companies from Turkey took part in the fair in an area exceeding 400 square meters, and noted the following:

“Turkey’s reputation as the European Union’s production base in the home appliance sector makes Turkish home appliance manufacturers leading partners of European Union companies. In parallel with a strong primary industry, we have an equally strong sub-industry that we are here to represent, which functions as suppliers of the main industry production. Turkey is the top producing country in Europe and ranks second in the world with an annual production of 33 million units.”

New AI-powered “smart home” trends

IFA 2024, where sustainability and artificial intelligence come to the fore, will host visitors in Berlin until September 10. More than 180,000 people are expected to visit the fair, where more than 1,800 companies from more than 45 countries will exhibit their new technology products.

This year’s hot topics include artificial intelligence, sustainability, connectivity, digital health and content creation. From refrigerators with advanced features to virtual chefs, products demonstrate the impact of AI on daily life, while modern ovens automatically recognize what food is being prepared and adjust the temperature and cooking time accordingly.

South Korea is the partner country of the fair, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and other events with the participation of artists such as Bryan Adams are aimed to attract visitors to the fairgrounds.

This year, the fair will provide participants with the opportunity to monitor and compare artificially supported trends in the home electronics and white goods sector, and to meet new products and technologies, while also providing the opportunity to use innovative products that are intensively based on artificial intelligence.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Berlin, Ahmet Başar Şen, will also host a reception today for the representatives of companies and official delegations participating in the IFA Berlin 2024 Fair from Turkey.
