IACHR highlights cooperation of the Paraguayan Government

The authorities of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) highlighted the cooperation of the Paraguayan government in the framework of compliance with the sentences. The Costa Rican judge, Nancy Hernández López, met this Wednesday with the Vice President of the Republic, Pedro Alliana.

On the occasion, they discussed compliance with the sentences handed down by the international court based in San José, Costa Rica. Also participating was Brazilian judge Rodrigo Mudrovitsch, vice president of the aforementioned body.

Hernández López said that the delegation of the Inter-American Court is in Paraguay to present its accountability before the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), which will take place in Asunción between this Wednesday and next Friday.

“We had the pleasure of meeting with the Vice President and his staff to coordinate an on-site visit to monitor compliance with the Inter-American Court’s rulings in September. We are very pleased to announce that we have received great cooperation from the Paraguayan State authorities to carry out our work here in Paraguay, next September,” he said.

For his part, Rodrigo Mudrovitsch stated that he will verify compliance with the sentences and the situation in which the victims find themselves. “There are three cases of three indigenous communities in the Paraguayan Chaco, they are sentences from a few years ago by the Inter-American Court and we believe that there have been great advances in recent years and the Court comes to certify that everything is being fulfilled and if the victims “They are receiving the necessary attention from the State,” he stated.

At another time, they thanked the Paraguayan Government for its cooperation: “These are cases that deserve all our attention, all our dedication and it is a visit that I believe is always good for the victims and for the State as well so that it can show the Cut your commitment to the inter-American system,” they stated.
