Pakistan People’s Party and PML-N have become the largest parties in the 65-member House with 17 and 17 seats, respectively, after the notification issued by the Election Commission for reserved seats for women and minorities.

JUI’s total seats are 13, BAP’s five, National Party’s four and Awami National Party’s three seats.

Jamaat-e-Islami, Haq Du Tehreek, BNP Mengal and BNP Awami have one seat each.

One member will be sworn in as an independent while re-polling will be held on February 29, 2024 at 11 polling stations of Sanjawi in PB Sat Ziarat Harnai.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has said in a statement on Tuesday that ‘all the assemblies will come into being on February 29, 2024.’

The Election Commission says that under Articles 91 and 130 of the Constitution, the first sitting of all assemblies must be held within 21 days after the elections.

“Under Article 41 (4) of the Constitution, the election of the President of Pakistan must be done within 30 days after holding the general elections.”

The Election Commission will release the schedule and public notice for the election of the President on March 1, 2024. A day will be fixed for submission of nominations under the Constitution. According to the proposed program, candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers to any presiding officer by 12:00 on March 2.
