Khaled Mahmud Sujan told the media that he could not do his job properly as a team director during the World Cup. BCB Director and Game Development Committee Chairman Khaled Mahmood does not want to take any more responsibilities of the team due to previous bad experience. He said this while talking to the media at Mirpur Sher Bangla Stadium on Sunday.
In response to the question whether he will take charge of the Bangladesh team in the future, this former cricketer expressed a lot of anger and said, ‘I think there is no solution for Bangladesh cricket. Bangladesh has a bigger solution. I have no interest in any responsibility of Bangladesh national team. What I did in the last World Cup, I think it does not go with my cricket career. Maybe I am not such a big coach, I don’t know much about cricket. Still I think I have respect, I didn’t get that respect in the last World Cup. I don’t even want to do this anymore.’
This BCB director said that he will request Papon Bhai not to give the responsibility of the national team in the future, ‘I am no longer a 28-29 year old boy, I have to keep my honor now. I respect papan bhai as before. But I humbly request Papon bhai not to ask me to do any more work in this matter.’
Khaled Mahmud was with the team as the team director in the last World Cup. Not only that, he was a definite part of the global tournaments in 2021-22. Khaled Mahmud expressed his position on the question of whether he will be seen in any duty in the upcoming T20 World Cup, ‘Hathurusinghe can be the best coach in the world is of no value to me. I have a lot of respect in Bangladesh, the cricketers respect me a lot, I don’t want to lose that place of respect.’
Sujan further added, ‘When I worked in a place, when I didn’t get to work at that place, if my work changed after doing so many tours, there was no point in keeping that responsibility. If I can’t do that, why should I do it, I don’t go on tour with the Bangladesh team. I don’t want to be a tour party. I have traveled abroad a lot, I have no desire to travel abroad.’
Khaled Mahmud only wants to be busy with his work, ‘I want to live my life. I work in cricket academy in Abahani, BPL, Rajshahi. I am very happy with them. If I have to work for the improvement of cricket in the country, I will definitely do it. But national team assignments may not be for me, as I said I may not deserve it.’
