Osmancan İlimsever, who lives with his family in Muradiye Neighborhood of Yunusemre district, was bedridden due to spinal cord injury due to head compression at birth. Osmancan, who was diagnosed with ‘hydrocephalus’ disease, had a shunt surgery in his brain. Osmancan İlimsever, who cannot sit, talk or walk due to his developmental disorder, holds on to life by being fed with a syringe through his nose. Osmancan, who has had 70 stomach and intestinal bleedings to date, and 25 surgeries such as stomach, intestine, brain, hip dislocation and leg muscle relaxation, will now have surgery for stomach GERD (gastro esophageal reflux). It was stated that with the surgery to be performed in the coming days, Osmancan İlimsever’s intestines will be separated, his stomach will be fed and his colon intestine will be taken out.
‘WE ARE WAITING FOR HIM 24/7 WITH HIS MOTHER’
Münevver Şensoy Arslan (41) never leaves her husband Sercan Arslan, whom she married for the second time 13 years ago, and her son Osmancan İlimsever’s side. Sercan Arslan, who said that he and his wife have to keep watch 24/7 so that his stepson’s breathing does not become blocked, said, “Osmancan has had 25 surgeries such as stomach, intestine, brain, hip dislocation, leg muscle relaxation. All of his internal organs are currently attached. His oral feeding is completely blocked. He is fed with a syringe through his nose. He will undergo a very risky surgery next week to separate his internal organs. With the stomach GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) surgery, his intestines will be separated and a valve will be installed so that he can be fed through his stomach. His colon will also be taken out.”
Sercan Arslan, who stated that he has not been able to work as a driver for 2.5 years because he cannot leave his son’s side, said, “There are home care and disability pensions given for Osmancan. The state does not cover the costs of medicine and surgery. However, the medical devices that Osmancan needs to use are very expensive. Since I cannot work, I have difficulty in paying for these. I expect support from philanthropists in this regard.”
