Hydration points reinforced in Baja California due to increase in temperatures

In response to the increase in temperatures in the region, the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, has ordered the reinforcement of hydration points as part of the inter-institutional “Safe Summer” campaign. This initiative aims to meet the hydration needs of the entire population, with special attention to those who are in vulnerable situations.

The president explained that key areas have been identified in the state for the location of these hydration points. In Mexicali, a mobile hydration route has been established that includes the Central Zone, the Lázaro Cárdenas road distributor, the monument to Lázaro Cárdenas, the Centro checkpoint, the Francisco Zarco monument, the Sánchez Taboada monument and the intersection with the Venustiano Carranza boulevard. .

The Secretary of Health, Adrián Medina Amarillas, reported that in addition to the mobile points, two massive hydration points have been installed. One of these points is specifically equipped to hydrate pets, recognizing the importance of also caring for animals in times of extreme heat.

To expand the reach of the campaign, 200 hydration houses have been established in Mexicali and the Coastal Zone of the state. Recently, 12 hydration houses have been inaugurated in Tijuana, including one in the San Ysidro port of entry area, providing access to drinking water to more people in strategic locations.

Nearly five thousand citizens have been served, receiving not only water, but also consultations and preventive health actions in these hydration modules. This inter-institutional effort underscores the Baja California government’s commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its residents during the summer.
