The Hungarian Prime Minister believes that former US President Donald Trump and the European Union (EU) can end the Ukraine conflict within 24 hours.

“If Mr. Trump and the EU want to end the war (in Ukraine), they can do it in 24 hours,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in a media interview on June 4.
He added: “We need to remember that war is caused by people, and these people, if they are willing, will have every opportunity to create peace. I think that if Mr. Trump becomes president, he can reach a ceasefire in Ukraine in one day and then start negotiations.”
Previously, the Hungarian Prime Minister explained that he believed former US President Donald Trump could quickly resolve the Ukraine conflict. He said, if Mr. Trump is re-elected, the US will stop military aid to Ukraine.
“He will not pour a penny into the Ukraine-Russia conflict and therefore the fighting will end. It is clear that Ukraine will not be able to stand on its own feet. If the Americans do not provide money and weapons, the Europeans will Europe will not be able to finance this conflict on its own, so the fighting will end,” Prime Minister Orban said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Orban said that the EU’s strategy on the Ukraine issue has failed even from a tactical point of view.
“We should ask ourselves what Europe’s strategic interests are and demand a ceasefire. Our citizens want peace, not war or a political game,” Mr. Orban emphasized.
The Hungarian Prime Minister said that he expected a new right-wing majority in the European Parliament after the election scheduled for June 8-9.
Hungary is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Since Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine, Mr. Orban’s administration has always refused to supply weapons to Ukraine, while maintaining close economic cooperation with Russia.
According to Hungary, the West’s continued military aid to Ukraine only escalates and prolongs the conflict.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has entered its third year but shows no signs of abating.
Russian officials announced that they are always ready to negotiate to end the conflict, but said that Kiev does not have good will.
“We have been preparing for this (negotiation) for more than a year. Now we are also preparing. The problem is that Ukraine has publicly banned this negotiation by law, by decree. Until now, we I do not see any desire from the Ukrainian side nor any desire to negotiate from the US or UK, the countries behind the Ukrainian government,” Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin commented.
In another related development, Chairman of the Russian House of Representatives Vyacheslav Volodin clearly stated his opinion: “Resolving the Ukraine problem without Russia is impossible.”
He implicitly mentioned the upcoming Ukrainian peace conference in Switzerland. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 100 countries and international organizations have confirmed to send representatives to the conference. However, China refused to participate because the conference did not meet Beijing’s requirement to have equal participation from both Russia and Ukraine.
