A terrifying galaxy with a monstrous face that formed 900 million years after the Big Bang has been photographed by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope.
AzTECC71 is the name of a frighteningly dusty galaxy that gives birth to hundreds of stars every year.
The mysterious red spot was discovered in telescope data by astronomers at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin.
Since large stellar nurseries were previously believed to be rare, this discovery could change how scientists understand the early universe.

The image of a ghost face with two eyes and a huge open mouth that appears to scream in the darkness is seen in a galaxy artist’s illusion AzTECC71.
Each JWST image is an artist-recreated representation of the data rather than an actual photo of the cartoon object.
Jed McKinney, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Texas at Austin, said: “This thing is a real monster. “Although it looks like a small lump, it actually forms hundreds of new stars every year,” SINDOnews was quoted by the Daily Mail.
For the COSMOS-Web project, McKinney and a team of researchers used NASA data to create a map of the universe. The project’s goal is to discover up to one million galaxies.
The mass of light from AzTECC71 was first captured by a ground-based telescope, but later disappeared from images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.
Dusty galaxies are difficult to capture because most of the light from stars is absorbed by the dusty envelope and then re-emitted at redder or longer wavelengths.
However, JWST’s ability to capture infrared properties makes this possible.
