On the morning of Thursday, February 29, the head of government of the City of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri, was giving an interview to several media outlets in the middle of the street, when a huge rat burst onto the scene, unleashing chaos among the journalists. After the commotion, the rodent was eaten by some stray dogs, all of which was broadcast on national television, becoming a viral moment on digital platforms.
The incident occurred while Macri was personally supervising the eviction work of an informal fair in the Padre Carlos Múgica neighborhood, also known as Barrio 13. During his intervention with the press, he highlighted the benefits it would bring to the neighbors, especially in terms of security, before being interrupted by the appearance of the large rat.
In the videos broadcast on television and social networks, you can see how Jorge Macri remained calm, even when the rodent apparently passed over his feet. However, some reporters could not control his emotions and began to scream and run in an attempt to get away from the animal. This one, apparently also scared, sought to escape between the camera cables, the feet of the reporters and even between the tripods.

Rat was eaten by two dogs
Due to the enormous size of the rat, its escape was not as fast as expected, which was taken advantage of by a man who tried to kick it away, but failed in his attempt. However, a second subject was more accurate and kicked the rodent into the air, causing it to fall a few meters ahead. It was at that moment when a pair of dogs appeared and devoured the rodent.
The appearance of the rat in Jorge Macri’s interview captured all the attention and the video went viral on digital platforms. All kinds of reactions were generated, and some even classified it as one of the strangest moments on Argentine television.
When the interview resumed, Jorge Macri pointed out that the appearance of the rat exemplified the precarious housing conditions caused by the illegal installation of the fair in question.
