Jazz huachaca and urban cueca in Chillán

Everything is ready and ready for the grand final of the Roberto Parra Sandoval Urban Tradition Works Composition Competition, organized by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage and promoted by the Council for the Promotion of National Music. Those selected from the two categories in competition (jazz huachaca and urban cueca) take the stage to present their original works.
The selection was carried out by a jury composed of Colombina Parra, Fabiola González (La Chinganera), María Angélica Reyes, Rodrigo Torres and Edgardo Mundaca. The five finalist works for the Cueca Urbana category are: “Roberto el gran patiperro”, by Rodrigo Miranda (Isla de Maipo); “Angelito was born free”, by Felipe Sepúlveda (Estación Central), “The poets of Chile”, by Daniela Martínez (Santiago), “The skinny canary is already gone”, by Daniel Véliz (Talca) and “Cueca del cuicodrilo”, by Patricio García (Punta Arenas).
In Jazz Huachaca, the finalist pieces are: “The distant heels”, by Daniela Meza (Melipilla); “The lolero train”, by Guillermo Alfaro (Coquimbo); “Cimbalom guachaca”, by Rodrigo Contreras (Santiago); “De tiptoe en blanco”, by Tania Palma (Santiago) and “Noche”, by Geordette Escuti (Estación Central).
The finalist works will be presented in a concert open to the entire community, with free admission (first come, first served), at the Municipal Theater of Chillán, in the Ñuble Region, organizer of the contest and home of the childhood of “Uncle Roberto,” for whom Urban Folklore Day is celebrated every June 29.
The day will also feature the music of La Regia Orquesta Quinteto, a group that created the music of the Chilean theater classic “La negra Ester.”
That day the jury will select the winners of the contest. The prizes are: $5,000,000 for first place, $3,000,000 for second, $2,000,000 for third prize and $1,000,000 for each of the selected finalist works that are presented in the audition and have not obtained any of the prizes. the previous awards.
