How to update your AFORE file and why it is important? | Step-by-step guide

Every five years, it is necessary to update your electronic file, the digital file that contains your personal information and allows you to be identified among other account holders. Keeping it updated is the first step to make any request related to your account. Find out how to do it.

The Single Electronic File is responsible for validating your identity and facilitating the procedures in your AFORE, and even keeps a record of all the movements related to your retirement savings account.

This was introduced by the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (CONSAR) in 2015 with the aim of making the Retirement Savings System (SAR) more efficient, so If the file was processed between 2016 and 2019, it is essential to update it.

  • RFC (tax card or proof of registration)

  • Proof of address no more than three months old

They will also ask you for the data of your beneficiaries such as full name, relationship, CURP and the percentage assigned to each one. Your NSS may also be required if applicable.

How to update it?

CONSAR details the steps to follow to keep your Single Electronic File updated:

  1. Acude a tu AFORE to request any of the procedures that require the creation of a Single Electronic File.
  2. Your Afore receives and registers the request with the data and documentation presented.
  3. A service agent or AFORE promoter agent will take a digital photography of your face.
  4. You will be asked to register your biometric and digital handwritten signature on the electronic device that the Afore makes available to you.
  5. The AFORE sends the request of the Single Electronic File for validation.
  6. The AFORE informs you of the result (accepted or rejected).
