The domestic worker sector in Argentina, which ranges from nannies to adult caregivers, is in a time of uncertainty regarding its income. These workers play essential roles in many families, providing care to children, adolescents, older adults or people with disabilities, and are governed by the fourth category of private home employees.

The year 2024 began without a salary increase through joint ventures, leaving these professionals with the same income as in January. This situation remains pending a crucial meeting between the National Commission for Work in Private Homes and the Ministry of Labor, scheduled for the end of February. At this meeting, future salary adjustments will be discussed, considering the current inflationary rhythm.

Salaries in February 2024: references for employers

The hourly wage for babysitters and adult caregivers varies depending on the type of contract, especially whether or not the worker has retired. In February 2024, the established amounts are $1,528 per hour for those with withdrawal and $1,708.50 per hour for those without this option.

For those under a monthly scheme, salaries in February remain at the same amounts as in January: with withdrawal: $193,217 and $215,320 without withdrawal.

It is important to note that these amounts do not include possible additional benefits for seniority, retirement contributions and social security contributions, which must be considered by the employer when making the payment.
