In recent days, cases of new variant JN1 (JN1) of corona virus are being reported in different countries. While on the one hand, the World Health Organization has declared it a ‘variant of interest’ in view of increasing cases, on the other hand, it has said that the JN1 variant poses a low level of threat to global health.
According to the official data released by the government of Pakistan’s neighbor India, 263 cases of the new variant of the corona virus, JN1, have been reported across the country, however, according to the Pakistani government, there are no cases of this variant in the country. Cases were not reported.
Caretaker Federal Health Minister Nadeem Jan has said in a conversation with Independent Urdu that his preparation is complete in view of the new variant. “We have learned a lot from the corona virus, and in this regard work has been done to improve the laboratories and train the staff, but it will end with precautionary measures.”
On the presence of a new variant in Pakistan, the Federal Health Minister said that no case of a new variant of Corona has been reported in the country so far. But health security has been activated at airports and borders. Even if a case is suspected, it is traced, but no case of JN1 variant is known to us.’
On the question about the new vaccine, Nadeem John said that Pfizer’s new vaccine will reach Pakistan soon from America, and the number will be sufficient. He said that if this variant arises, it will be controlled.
The question ‘How dangerous can the virus be?’ But he replied that this variant is spreading around the world and ‘we have a threat alert from it, if there is a case of it, it can circulate on a regular basis. But we have to continue the vaccination process and implement the advisory issued in the past.
According to the details provided by the Federal Ministry of Health to Independent Urdu, USAID will provide two lakh Pfizer vaccines to Pakistan and the new Pfizer vaccine is expected to arrive in the first week of February this year.

It should be remembered that the World Health Organization has reported a 52% increase in corona cases from November to December last year. During this time, 850,000 new cases of Corona were reported.
On the other hand, Pakistan Medical Association Secretary General Qaiser Sajjad said in a conversation with Independent Urdu regarding JN1 variant that it is not an active but a weak variant.
He said that Corona will not end. Just as influenza has come and gone over time but is not gone, the coronavirus will continue to mutate through different variants. Qaiser Sajjad drew attention to the ‘real’ problem and said that the citizens did not believe in Corona before and they do not believe in it now, the problem is not wearing masks and not getting tested.
In some cases, there are complaints of loss of sense of smell and taste and diarrhea, but in recent days, common cold and flu have come out from Corona, which get better in four to five days.
The Secretary General of Pakistan Medical Association added that ‘I think this variant may not be that dangerous but people who have low immunity can have problems, it can be fatal for them.’
