Housing program has been consolidated in these two years, they say

The Minister of Urban Planning, Housing and Habitat, Juan Carlos Baruja, assured that the Che Róga Porã housing program has been consolidating for two years, allowing thousands of people to access their own home at an affordable price, no longer paying rent to pay for their own home. The project continues to add beneficiaries who apply every day to access this program, he assured.

Baruja highlighted the efficiency of the beneficiary selection system, highlighting that it has been improved with the aim of reaching more and more Paraguayans.

“We are reaching 4,000 credits between pre-approved and in approval analysis. Of these 4,000, approximately 2,700 are already finalized and 1,300 are being analyzed; that represents approximately 100 million dollars of approved credits,” he indicated.

He explained that one of the virtues of the program is that, as it is developed on a digital platform, it has data on 100% of the people who have applied, 100% who have approved and also those who have been rejected, allowing them to analyze the reasons for rejection, among which the main one is the over-indebtedness of people who are working.

“We have managed to get the banks to accompany this Government policy a little, also lowering their interest rates on housing and also their terms. There are banks with their own capital promoting 27-year terms at rates close to 8 or 7.9%, which are very close to ours which is 6.5%, and that makes Paraguayans more dynamic and generate opportunities,” Baruja remarked.

He emphasized the point that some people have debts of between 10 to 20 million guaraníes, which can be refinanced or paid gradually with bank support to subsequently reduce the applicant’s debt quota so that they can now access the program, even generating financial planning on the part of those interested.

Regarding the effectiveness and expansion of the project, Minister Baruja mentioned that not only have they equaled the number of homes made in the last administration, but they have already exceeded that figure by 20% in 2 years and almost 3 months of management.

“We have 42,000 homes managed; they are homes that have been started in these two years, of which 26,000 have already been delivered to their beneficiaries, who today are already living in their own home, while the difference is in different stages of execution. In comparison to the previous 5 years, 35,000 homes were managed,” remarked the head of the MUVH.
