Housing Minister admits corruption in her sector

The head of the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar, spoke regarding a journalistic report where she indicates that she arranged a meeting with Colonel Harvey Colchado, former head of the Diviac (High Complexity Crime Investigation Division).

According to a report by Cuarto Poder, the minister had requested this meeting to investigate the profiles suggested by Nicanor Boluarte, the president’s brother. In Boluarteto carry out public procurement.

In this regard, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar spoke on her social networks after the dissemination of this information and confirmed the existence of said meeting.

«About the Cuarto Poder report: I have nothing to hide. Mr. Colchado and I met to discuss issues related to the existing corruption in the sector, which I have been fighting against since the beginning of my administration. Faithful to my convictions, I will always respond with the truth,” he published on his X account, formerly Twitter.

The events date back to 2022, when the now minister looked for Harvey Colchado to hold a meeting in a safe house in Diviac, in the Surco district.

In said meeting, the Minister of Housing expressed her concern about the future appointment of the head of Sedapal, since, she indicated, that the president was imposing her choice due to pressure from her brother Nicanor Boluarte.

A second meeting took place at the end of January and Hania Pérez de Cuéllar would have presented resumes to filter her ministry officials. Later, between March and July, the minister had more meetings with Colchado.

The last meeting they held was at the end of September 2023 and was the last one that took place on good terms. A report on November 5 specified meetings between Nicanor Boluarte and mayors who would later receive million-dollar budgets from the State.

With this, relations between the Government and Colonel Colchado took a turn, since Pérez de Cuéllar pointed out that the complaint was unfounded and modified his opinion regarding the colonel to combat corruption.
