As part of the development of the El Salvador 2024 Tour, the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), through the Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT), will carry out an operation to close streets near the National Palace, in the Historic Center of San Salvador, this Friday night.
Romeo Rodríguez, Minister of Public Works, explained that the restrictions on circulation in certain streets of the Historic Center will begin at 6:30 at night, because closed circuit tests will be carried out during the competition that day.
«Yesterday, the inauguration of the event was held, which brings together more than 100 international cyclists. There are about 25 teams that are competing. Today, we are going to have an important activity with circulation restrictions in the Historic Center from 6:30 pm,” he assured.
«We are going to intervene on Cuscatlán Avenue, España Avenue and the streets surrounding the National Palace. It is a speed circuit, each one will start and the time will be measured. There are about 2.5 kilometers that will be covered. Salvadorans will be able to come and see the activity, it is an event that we have not had before,” he explained.

For his part, Nelson Reyes, Vice Minister of Transportation, explained that “in this day’s competition we are going to have a closed circuit, so the streets need to remain closed for the duration of the competition.”
«In the following activities they will be open tours. There is a large device to accompany them throughout the journey. It seems quite emblematic to me that on this Women’s Day they can demonstrate all the talent and training they have had all these years. I am sure that Salvadorans will be able to see the cyclists and feel inspired to be able to have that discipline,” she added.
Finally, both officials highlighted the relevance of this activity and how El Salvador has positioned itself as a perfect setting for these sporting events that bring together the best of each discipline.
