Second division hostert caused a surprise in the Coupe de Luxembourg. Under new coach Marc Thomé, the team knocked first division team Racing out of the competition 1-0 in the round of 16 on Wednesday evening. Kenan Avdusinovic only scored the decisive goal in extra time (113′).
It was also very close with third division team Norden 02, who demanded everything from the heavy favorite Strassen. A 1:1 after 90 and 120 minutes was followed by a penalty shootout in which the BGL Ligue club came out on top thanks to the last goal from top striker Conrad Azong (5:3). With the same result, Mondorf also prevailed from the point in Schifflingen. In the duel between the second division teams, Weiler celebrated a 3-2 win after extra time against Canach.
The top favorites, on the other hand, left nothing to be desired: While Differdange (3-0 in Monnerich), Niederkorn (3-1 in Steinsel) and Jeunesse (5-0 in Rümelangen) had an easy game, Hesperange had to struggle in the 3-2 win against Bettemburg. After being 3-0 down, the second division team made things exciting again with two goals from Benjamin Paris (58′) and Loîc Muller (80′), but in the end it wasn’t enough.
