Christian Horner (50), who was accused of sexual harassment a few weeks ago, was supported by his wife Geri Halliwell (51) throughout the case. However, that changed after the recent publication of inappropriate text messages that the boss of Red Bull was sending to one of his employees. Since then, things between him and the former Spice Girl have been really strained, and it may happen that he will have to resign from his position to save the marriage.
The relationship between Horner and his wife soured after a series of WhatsApp text messages and photos surfaced on Thursday. The former Spice Girl then suffered a mental breakdown, according to close friends, and felt very humiliated for showing support for her husband throughout the investigation. Despite that, she flew to Bahrain on Friday to see him, where this year’s Formula 1 season started in his presence.
Although the couple looked happy for the cameras and also showed off some strange hugs and unconvincing kisses in front of the fans, their relationship is definitely not in order. Geri is reportedly asking Horner to immediately cut off all contact with the female employee he sent inappropriate messages to. However, it will not be so simple.
Given her position in the team, Horner needs to communicate with her, and firing her without a valid reason would be almost suicide for the Red Bull boss. Therefore, it may happen that in order to save the marriage, the former racing driver will eventually have to leave the team. However, the press spokesman of one of the most successful stables stands by his point. “There is no problem and we are only focused on racing,” he said.
