In Abakan, a 53-year-old native of the Kyrgyz Republic was found guilty of murdering a woman, Liter.kz reports with reference to Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia.
In the fall of 1995, the man came to the Republic of Khakassia and organized a business related to the sale of clothing. The business did not bring the desired income, so he decided to return to Kyrgyzstan. On the eve of his departure, the defendant, due to the lack of funds, decided to steal money from the house of a businessman he knew in the city of Abakan.
On March 8, 1996, the defendant, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, came to a man’s house. The door was opened by a relative of the businessman. Under the fictitious pretext of waiting for the man, the defendant entered the house, where he struck the woman several times on the head with his fist and a part of a sewing machine, then strangled her with a nylon rope. The victim died at the scene. The man stole the money and disappeared.
A criminal case was opened on this fact, however, despite the complex of investigative actions and operational-search measures carried out, it was not possible to identify the person involved in the murder of the woman at that time, and the preliminary investigation of the criminal case was suspended.
In 2024, as a result of a re-examination of the criminal case materials, the involvement of a resident of the Kyrgyz Republic in the murder of the woman was established.
As a result of operational and investigative measures, the man was detained on February 1 in Moscow. During interrogation, he admitted guilt in the murder of a woman and, when checking his testimony on the spot, he gave a detailed account of the circumstances of the crime.
The court sentenced the defendant to 9.5 years of imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony.
The sentence has not entered into legal force.
