High-impact crimes on the decline in La Laguna

The downward trend in high-impact crimes has been a constant in the region, thanks to the coordination between the three levels of government which, in the case of Torreón, has allowed us to bring tranquility and better dynamics in economic activity.

During the weekly security meeting, the Secretary of the City Council, Natalia Fernández Martínez, highlighted the work of the different agencies and corporations, as this is what has allowed security to be maintained in Torreón and throughout the metropolitan area of ​​La Laguna.

Fernández Martínez chaired the session on behalf of the mayor of Torreón, Román Alberto Cepeda González, and highlighted that in the most recent meeting of the Special Command, the Laguna Region of Coahuila and Durango showed a downward trend in high-impact crimes. .

Regarding this city, the Secretary commented that the prevention strategy that has been implemented in the administration of the mayor, Román Alberto Cepeda González, as well as the investment in this matter, has allowed the city to be kept at peace.

“The coordinated work that we have carried out in two years and six months is what has led us to have an incidence rate well below the national average in terms of intentional homicides, for example,” he commented.

In that sense, he highlighted the importance of weekly security meetings, in which representatives of the three levels of government participate.

He noted that “as Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda González has stated, coordination must continue, it is everyone’s job to maintain security and peace in Torreón and La Laguna,” he expressed.

Regarding the general crime rate, corresponding to the week of June 12 to 18, Commissioner César Antonio Perales Esparza, director of the Municipal Police, reported that nine home burglaries were recorded, zero thefts of vehicle accessories without violence, eight robberies of commercial premises and one robbery of a person with violence.

The Municipal Police made 85 arrests that were reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and 108 were sent to the Qualifying Judge.

For its part, the Torreón Reaction Group made 17 arrests related to the possession of narcotics.

Luis Alberto Morales Cortés, director of Roads and Urban Mobility, reported that during the week a minor under 14 years of age was detected driving a motorcycle in the wrong direction, whose vehicle was removed, the Office of the Prosecutor for Girls was notified. Children and the Family (Pronnif), and was also channeled together with his father to take the training course for motorcyclists taught by the agency in coordination with Icatec.

He highlighted the importance of parents talking to their children about the risks of driving a vehicle without the age or training necessary for that activity.

Morales Cortés explained that so far in the municipal administration, a total of 3,304 motorcyclists have been trained in defensive and preventive driving, to avoid accidents and avoid deaths related to lack of expertise.

Martha Esther Rodríguez Romero, president of the Municipal Justice Court, reported that, during the week, the people who entered the Temporary Detention Center and who chose to carry out community work to commute their hours of arrest, participated in the reforestation of the public square located in the José R. Mijares neighborhood.

In addition, during the recent rain that occurred in the city, the offenders collaborated with the authorities in the delivery of rubber to protect homes in the Durangueña, Francisco I. Madero neighborhoods, as well as in Torreón and Anexas.

Jorge Luis Juárez Llanas, director of Civil Protection and Firefighters of Torreón, reported that two minors were detected inside the irrigation canal of the San Luis ejido, who were removed in a timely manner, thanks to the inspection operations carried out by the municipal agencies in those areas. sectors.

He added that fires in vacant lots continue to be the most frequent report received in the agency, accounting for 69 during the week, followed by LP gas leaks with nine and bee swarms with eight.

Raúl Gerardo Rodríguez García, director of Inspection and Verification, announced that the main citizen reports that were received in the agency through the 073 system were for obstruction of public roads with 15 and junk vehicles with six.

He pointed out that personnel from the agency go to homes to make citizens aware of the irregularity, granting a certain period of time for them to correct the situation, and that with the action they have managed to free different streets in the city’s neighborhoods from obstructions.

He indicated that joint operations continue with the Municipal Police, Civil Protection and Firefighters, as well as with Plazas and Markets, to verify that the clubs and bars in the downtown sector operate in accordance with municipal regulations.
