Hideo Kojima has revealed something about what we can expect from OD, his next game officially announced at the latest The Game Awards gala.

It will soon be a month since we first saw the OD trailer, which was a preview of Hideo Kojima’s next game. Today, the creator has decided to tell us something more about what this unconventional production, created in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios, will be like.

  • Kojima published on X send, in which he mentions previous projects “ahead of their time” without naming them directly. However, from the context it can be concluded that, among others, about Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding.
  • The most important, however, is the third game mentioned by the artist. He describes it as the most experimental and encountered many reservations within the team and company when it was created. This is Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand released on Game Boy Advance in 2003.
  • We note that Boktai was very unique in that it required sunlight (real, not in-game) to play. It was impossible to play without exposure to daylight.

    • The next OD should be different in this sense, as Hideo Kojima wrote. Recall that the Japanese had previously described the production currently under development as a “new type of entertainment medium”.

    Finally, we add that the most attentive viewers also noticed a subtle reference to the Silent Hill series in the first trailer and, as we already know, OD should also be a horror game. For now, nothing is known about the plot of the next game or its release date.
