Hidalgo seeks declaration of emergency for 31 municipalities due to exceptional drought

Due to exceptional drought, the Interinstitutional Committee for Drought Management in the state was established in Hidalgo in order to seek the declaration of emergency for the 31 municipalities considered to have exceptional drought and thus be able to access federal resources.

These municipalities are atlapexco, Calnali, Chapulhuacán, Eloxochitlán, Huautlingo, Huazingla, Juárez, Jacala, Jacala, Jacala, Jacala, Jacala, Jacala, Jacala, Jacala, Jacala. Flores, St. Philip’s Orizatlan.

The Undersecretary of Civil Protection and Risk Management, Francisco Quijas Cruz, reported that the functions of this committee include formulating and sustaining political considerations and state strategies regarding drought, establishing preventive measures, as well as attention and mitigation of extraordinary meteorological phenomena.

In addition, promote the development of research projects, establish coordination mechanisms between the three levels of government for the implementation of prevention actions.

Likewise, identify those areas that, due to the characteristics of their vulnerability to the occurrence of extraordinary meteorological phenomena, require immediate and priority attention from the agencies; but also distribute within the commission information related to warning, detection, monitoring, forecasting and measurement systems or networks of risks due to extreme meteorological events.
