Composer Tomáš Kympl, whose songs are interpreted by the biggest stars in the Czech Republic, is no less successful abroad, specifically in London, UK. It is there, in addition to Prague, that he is also finishing a new album called Red. The original studio recording of electronic music will be released before Christmas, it is a palette of colorful tones and melodies that echo the composer’s multicultural surroundings. “Song titles like Black, Red, White or Yellow then carry a bit of nervous energy in bubbling beats, shimmering light textures, planetary loops and distant vocals painting a picture of a world that is desolate but not empty,” the author described to Bleska latest work.
The album, loaded with electronics and mysterious bass lines at the same time, introduces the listener to an environment preparing for retribution for centuries of human abuse. “But for example, the title record Red loosely follows and develops last year’s successful album Kernel Panic, whose single Wifi won in the EDM category of the prestigious British international songwriting competition UKSC. This also motivated me to try to push the limits of my composing and producing possibilities even more. I wrote and sang some songs in English. I believe that listeners will also like the modern trends of contemporary electronic music,” said Kympl in an invitation to listen to the album, which will be available this winter on all digital and streaming platforms, including YouTube.

And even though it’s holiday time, Kympl is not idle. He is already working on other compositions, on which he joined forces with an original musical personality, the German musician Søren Ley, a modern-day “bum” in the world of music and the real one. “He is an incredible person. Four years ago, he simply poked his finger at random on the map, where he was going, and hit Dobřichovice in Berounsk. He drove there, stayed at the campsite by the weir in an old motor home, and lives there, sings, plays the guitar,” Kympl described to Bleska. “When we met in the pub there and found out that we were both musicians, we soon hit it off figuratively and literally. Then we went to Šumava for a few days together, with our friend Lukáš, and we’ve been playing together ever since.”

Søren Ley, known to listeners from his performances in European and domestic clubs, then just had to “jump” to Germany, where he had a concert. A few days turned into weeks, during which he was imprisoned in the country by the coronavirus pandemic. But he is back a long time ago, he has become a legend in the camp and the surrounding area. “I’m happy here – I’ve made a lot of new friends here, they’re like family to me,” Ley told the Lightning. Together with Kymple, they compose and play surrounded by nature. “I can also imagine such a life and I’m here as duties allow. I leave everything behind, we record the songs right in Søren’s caravan. The atmosphere here, the nights full of stars, the sound of the water, the air… All this enchants a person, you don’t need civilization at all,” says Kympl. He praises the collaboration with the musician, who, according to him, has a unique expression and presentation of each composition. “The freedom, rawness and naturalness in his presentation resonates. I believe that it will also appeal to domestic listeners,” added Kympl.
