But at the same time, due to heavy rains, floods have occurred in countries like Indonesia, Brazil, Kenya. On the other hand, the United States has been hit by powerful tornadoes. Experts are struggling to calculate whether the world has seen so many natural disasters at once.

Last April, heat waves broke records in South and Southeast Asia. Countries such as Bangladesh, India, Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand faced terrible threats. Schools were declared closed in the country. In the same month, the United States suffered the second highest number of April tornadoes in its history. Again, in the same month, unprecedented rainfall flooded the United Arab Emirates.

Bangladesh
According to the Meteorological Department, the hottest April in the history of Bangladesh was last month. The number of consecutive days of heat waves in April this year has not happened in the last 76 years. The highest temperature of the country was recorded at 43.8 degrees Celsius on 30th of last month. During the month, the maximum and minimum temperatures of the country were 3.2 degrees Celsius and 2.8 degrees Celsius higher than normal, respectively. Although storms and rains have been seen in the beginning of May, the Meteorological Department has predicted that the heatwave may return to the country by the end of the month.

India
Most of the areas of India have been burning in terrible fires for several weeks. Among them, South India has passed the second hottest April in its history. And 51 year record was broken in Northeast India. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) statistics, eastern India experienced extremely hot weather throughout the month. The average temperature in East and Northeast India last April was the highest since 1973. However, the average night temperature during the month was the highest on record. In that month, Kalaikunda in West Bengal reached a record 47.2 degrees Celsius.

Southeast Asia
Like Bangladesh-India, neighboring Myanmar also set a new maximum temperature record in April. On April 28, the temperature in the city of Chowk in the country rose to 48.2 degrees Celsius, which is the highest in the history of that month.

At least 36 districts of Thailand saw record-breaking temperatures in April this year. According to the Thai Meteorological Department, the temperature in 26 provinces of the country exceeded 40 degrees Celsius last April. Among them, the highest temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in the northern province of Lampang this year.

In the same month, different parts of North and Central Vietnam recorded maximum temperatures ranging from 40.2 degrees Celsius to 44 degrees Celsius.

Schools closed for two days in Philippines due to severe heat wave. During this time, people are advised not to go out of the house except for urgent work.

Cambodia, another country in Southeast Asia, recorded the highest temperature in 170 years recently. It has been warned that the temperature may rise up to 43 degrees Celsius in different parts of the country this week as well.

Africa
Not only Asia, many African countries are also facing extreme heat this year. Kayes city in Mali recently recorded a temperature of 47.5 degrees Celsius. Niger’s capital has set a new record for the hottest May night. Burkina Faso’s capital recorded its hottest night for any month. The north central African country of Chad has been warned that the temperature will remain above 45 degrees Celsius this week as well.

Latin America
New heatwave records were set almost everywhere in Latin America. In Mexico, the mercury soared close to 46 degrees Celsius. Bolivia breaks record for hottest night in May Brazil also set a new record for the hottest day in May.

Countries affected by floods
Brazil is under the influence of floods as soon as the terrible fire goes away. The country’s southern state of Rio Grande do Sul has experienced severe flooding. So far 90 people have lost their lives, nearly two lakh people have been displaced.

Floods also occurred in Indonesia. At least 15 people have died in floods and landslides in the central part of the country.

The Middle Eastern country of United Arab Emirates was also inundated by record rainfall last April. In just a few hours, Dubai received more rain than it receives in a year and a half. The city’s main road and international airport were submerged in water. Due to heavy rains in early May after April, warnings had to be issued in Dubai.

Storms in the United States
Several days of heavy rains have created severe flooding in Texas. Due to this, the authorities had to rescue more than six hundred people across the state. The city of Houston was the most affected by this disaster.

In addition to the rain, the United States also has to deal with strong tornadoes. The National Weather Service reported more than a dozen tornadoes struck between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Eight of those tornadoes hit Oklahoma. And one tornado each hit Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Tennessee.
