Heat wave in Bihar, 16 people died in two hours – 2024-06-01 16:17:05

16 people died within two hours at the Aurangabad hospital in the Indian state of Bihar. All of them were admitted to the hospital with various heatstroke-related illnesses, Indian news agency NDTV reported.

Doctors at Aurangabad Hospital said that at least 35 patients suffering from various ailments have been admitted due to high temperature. They have been given proper treatment. The hospital has enough doctors, medicine, ice. Along with that more coolers have been arranged.

Bihar is going through severe heat wave for several days. Temperatures are so high above normal that all government and private schools, coaching centers and anganwadi centers (government childcare centers) in the state have been ordered to remain closed till June 8. The state government issued the order on Wednesday (May 29) after several students fainted in the intense heat.

It is known that at least 16 female students of a government school in Sheikhpura district lost consciousness due to excessive temperature. As the ambulance did not come in time, they were all taken to the hospital in wheelchairs and autorickshaws. Begusarai and Jamui districts like Sheikhpura also reported fainting of students.
