Heat and rain: half the country is under yellow and orange alert for strong storms

In the midst of a heat wave, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) launched a yellow and another orange weather alert in its forecast for strong storms for today in several provinces of the country.

On the list of districts that are under yellow alert are Tucumán, Salta, Jujuy, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero, Santa Fe, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Neuquén, La Pampa and Río Negro.

“The area will be affected by storms, some locally strong. They may be accompanied by abundant rainfall in short periods, strong electrical activity, occasional hail and intense gusts. Accumulated precipitation values ​​are estimated between 20 and 70 mm, being able to be overcome in a timely manner,” details the daily report of the national organization.

On the other hand, Santa Fe, La Pampa and Buenos Aires are the three provinces that are under an orange weather alert for this Friday: the rains will be so heavy that the population will have to take the necessary precautions.

The rains that reached the City of Buenos Aires and surrounding areas around noon generated flooding in several subway stations, flooded streets and traffic complications.
