The hearing of the case filed in India against Prashant Kumar Halder alias PK Halder for allegedly embezzling and smuggling tens of thousands of crores of rupees from Bangladesh has been postponed again. The money laundering case against PK Halder was scheduled to be heard in Kolkata’s City Sessions Court (Bankshal) on Wednesday (February 28), but it was postponed. The case was scheduled to be heard in the bench of Special CBI Court-1 Judge Prasanna Mukherjee.
But as PK Halder’s lawyer Milan Mukherjee was not present in the court, the lawyers of the rest of the accused applied for adjournment of the hearing of the case and the court granted it. In this case, the judge has fixed the next hearing on March 15.
In this regard, Orjit Chakraborty, the lawyer of Enforcement Directorate (ED), the agency investigating this case in India, said that the next hearing of this case has been fixed on March 15. The ED’s lawyer has clarified that the speed of the case depends on when the copy of the verdict reaches the Kolkata court in Bangladesh.
Six accused including accused PK Halder, his brother Pranesh Halder, Swapan Mistry alias Swapan Maitra, Uttam Mistry alias Uttam Maitra, Imam Hussain alias Eamon Halder and Amana Sultana alias Sharmi Halder were produced in the court on Wednesday after several rounds of judicial custody.
On May 14, 2022, PK Halder was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) of India from Greentech City, Board House 15, Vedic Village, Rajarhat, West Bengal. Also, 5 associates of PK Halder were arrested in various parts of the state.
