Munich – On January 4, TV audiences can expect a new season of the ZDF series “Der Bergdoktor” for the 17th time. The Austrian actor Hans Sigl (54) plays the lead role of Dr. Martin Gruber. But even after 140 episodes he is nervous when watching new seasons, as his wife Susanne now reveals.

In the trailer, fans can already get a first glimpse: Martin and his brother Hans (Heiko Ruprecht, 51 years old) are still arguing and Lisbeth’s (Monika Baumgartner, 72 years old) health seems to be worsening. But in the series there should also be room for a new love with Karin Bachmeier (Hilde Dalik, 45).

Since 2008, when the first season of “Der Bergdoktor” was released, Hans Sigl has taken over the role of Martin Gruber and thrilled ZDF viewers. But even after nearly 16 years and 140 episodes, he’s nervous when he watches new seasons. His wife Susanne Sigl (52 years old) revealed in the interview with “Bunte” in September 2023: “He can’t sit while he watches because he is excited.” That’s why he usually looks up while she “relaxes”.

The couple usually watches new episodes together, as Sigl doesn’t pre-watch them. In the past, “mountain doctor” parties were even organized at home and relatives and friends were invited to dinner. “This hasn’t happened in a long time, maybe we’ll do it again soon,” the 52-year-old said. Sigl admitted in the interview that she had already watched the first four episodes of her without her husband. And she revealed another detail: Martin Gruber could have found happiness in love in the new season.
So Hans Sigl probably won’t be the only one watching TV this Thursday. ZDF always shows new episodes in prime time and in advance in the ZDF media library.
