Hanka Šimková: Where did Cibulka’s partner from Breakfast with Nova go?

Nova’s recent thirtieth anniversary prompted many personalities who worked there (and many still do) to look back nostalgically at their careers at this television station. Ales Cibulka he was no different – he shared a number of pictures from when he was still a young, budding talent in the world of show business. “Nova celebrates, I’m honored to have been part of her family. Breakfast with Novatogether with the amazing Hanka Šimková,” he wrote about the series of photos with undisguised emotion. “Is there any memorial here?” he asked meaningfully.

As it soon turned out, quite a few people who remembered that time had gathered – and everyone was asking what happened to Hanka, the daughter of the famous entertainer Miloslav Šimek (†63), it actually happened. The likeable, always smiling brunette withdrew from public life. Cibulka, who moderated with her since December 8, 1997, recalled that he sat down with her both professionally and privately. He is even in close contact with her to this day, even though they no longer meet in front of the cameras.

“Years ago, I converted to the Christian faith and felt that working in television did not make sense to me,” Šimková herself explained her mysterious “disappearance” through Cibulka’s social networks. “That’s why I ended my employment at Czech Television at the time. I wanted to help with my work. I am a trained journalist, so I was able to offer skills in this direction to non-profit organizations.”

She first worked in an organization providing palliative care, ten years ago she moved to the non-profit organization Naděje. It helps elderly people, families at risk, homeless people, children at risk, people with disabilities and also people in financial distress. Here he works as a communications manager. “I am very grateful for this journey. I like to moderate sometimes, but I choose according to the meaning of the given thing,” Hanka clarified.

The onion will not let her go – and you can’t be surprised. “As a journalism professional, she taught me a lot. How to ask questions correctly, how to structure an interview to entertain both the audience and the respondent. How to pass on information without needlessly boasting about it.” he admitted years later. “I remember only when we went to the premiere of the musical together Nuns to the Jiří Grossmann Theatre, I found out to my astonishment who her father was. I really had no idea!” laughs today.

Former and current stars gathered for a spectacular celebration of the 30th anniversary of Nova TV.
