Hand washing facilities set up at bus stations

Resumption of classes, postponed by a few days after the Christmas holidays, for several schools in Mahajanga, following the epidemic of bacterial conjunctivitis which has hit the town since the end-of-year holidays, and which affects all village from the capital of Boeny.

To deal with the epidemic, health measures, in addition to raising public awareness, have been taken, including the installation of hand washing devices (DLM) in bus stations. Hand hygiene is, in fact, one of the key measures to prevent the spread of the disease, which is referred to as dirty hand disease. Thus, users in bus stations are invited to use these DLMs, in the same way as the entire population, encouraged to ensure good hand hygiene by washing them with soap and water or using disinfectant gel as many times as necessary. Furthermore, it is advisable to avoid touching your eyes. For people who wear glasses, it is recommended that they clean them regularly. It would be preferable to have personal toiletries, such as bath towels or other items. Of course, hugs and handshakes should be avoided in order to limit the transmission of the disease.
