Hakimi, a player for the French club Paris Saint-Germain, is competing in the final list of the award with the Gabonian Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Olympique Marseille striker, and the Algerian Nabil Bentaleb, the Lille player.
Three Moroccan players have previously won the award: Marouane Chamakh in the 2009 edition, Younes Belhanda in the 2012 edition, and Sofiane Boufal in the 2016 edition.
Hakimi had a distinguished season with Paris Saint-Germain, with whom he has so far won the French Super Cup and the local league.
Hakimi is also competing for two other titles, and it is the French Cup, where Paris Saint-Germain will face Lyon in the final match at the end of this month, and the Champions League, where the Parisian team is struggling to overcome its loss in the first leg of the semi-final against Borussia Dortmund, with a clean goal, in the return match. “Princes’ Garden” floor.
