Hafiz Imran Qureshi of Rawalpindi has been collecting weak copies of Quran and holy papers for the past four years after leaving his police job.
In a conversation with Independent Urdu, Hafiz Imran Qureshi said that ‘Four years ago I decided to start the work of collecting weak Quran. That’s why I left the police job. I have been doing this for four years now.’
He said: ‘I have collected more than 150,000 weak copies of the Quran so far.’

Explaining the details of his work, he said, ‘First we visit different mosques. We tell them that all the poor copies of the Quran should be locked in boxes and handed over to us. We go and load all the boxes in our car the next day.’
According to Hafiz Imran: ‘I have my own business. I have seven or eight boys working for me. I take one or two of them with me as much as they need, and bring weak copies of the Qur’an from there in the car.’
Hafiz Imran says that his close friend has dedicated three shops to collect and store these weak manuscripts where all these boxes and sacks are stored.
He further informed that after bringing the boxes of the Holy Quran, ‘we inspect them and the manuscripts that can be repaired, we repair them and distribute them for free.’
