Publika.az reports that Russian ophthalmologist, microsurgeon, laser surgeon, candidate of medical sciences Svetlana Mirgorodskaya spoke about these factors on September 26.

According to him, one of these factors is the increased eye fatigue when looking at a close distance.

“Comfortable working conditions for the vision system are created only when we look at a long distance. The greater the visual load in the near distance, the greater the load on the eye muscles. Therefore, it is necessary to take a break while working in front of the computer or, for example, while reading. After working or reading for an hour, you need to distract yourself and look away for at least 5-10 minutes,” said Mirgorodskaya.

In addition, overloading the visual organs in conditions of low or high lighting, which increases tension, causes muscle spasm and “dry eye” syndrome, also has a negative effect. In this regard, it is necessary to work in optimal lighting conditions.

“Another habit that is harmful to the eyes is reading and working on the computer while lying down. When working in this position, tension in the neck muscles increases, blood supply to the head, neck and eyes may deteriorate. In addition, the eye muscles are more loaded – when looking at an angle, the eyes have to “complete” the image. Therefore, it would be better to avoid working and reading while lying down,” the ophthalmologist added.

He also noted that it is important to have enough dopamine and vitamin D in the body, which slows down the development of myopia (nearsightedness), for eye health.

“Dopamine and vitamin D are released in sufficient quantities only when you walk for at least two hours in daylight. Those who are sensitive to their deficiency are recommended to eliminate this deficiency with the help of pharmaceutical products. But only after consulting the doctor,” the specialist said.

In addition, according to him, it is important to monitor the hormonal background and the amount of sugar in the blood. For this, you need to undergo regular examinations.
