Vladislavs Gutkovskis, striker of the Latvian football club and the South Korean club “Citizen” from Daejeon, told “Sport Studija” about the change of club and also outlined his relationship with another striker of the national team, Roberta Uldrikis.
“I approved everything. It’s not like “Rakow” really wanted to sell me out. It was not an imposed decision,” said Gutkowski regarding his transfer from the Polish team “Rakow” Częstochowa to the Korean club. “For three years already there was several information that “Rakow” wanted to take a new striker who would do everything, but so far there is no such striker who will do everything on the pitch. I went to the retreat with “Rakow”, then he called the Polish agent and asked me if I was interested in going to Korea. I thought if there is an official offer, then let’s see. Two hours later I already had the official offer on my phone and it all happened very quickly. The agent said there would be no problem with Rakow because they would pay what Rakow wanted.”
“After that, I thought I should try to get a better offer to see if they would be as quick. Again, after two hours, there was already a higher offer. I thought, if they want it that bad, then let’s do it. Then there had already been discussions with “Rakow”, it’s not like they accepted everything right away. The coach said he would have liked me to stay because there were many games ahead, but it was an excellent offer for me and didn’t want to block it,” Gutkovskis revealed.
Gutkovskis also highlighted the collaboration in the Latvian national team with Roberta Uldriķi. “At the beginning we didn’t go well, we didn’t want to collaborate. Everyone wanted to test themselves, it’s also good for the attacker. Subsequently there was a conversation with Daina Kazakevič, the three of us. After the first conversation I thought: Daini, what about are you talking to him? Also, we would like to test ourselves so that only he plays. Then there was a second and third conversation, then we already understood a little that without each other we couldn’t do anything. There was good communication and we understood that we had to work together.”
