The Guatemala U-20 National Team ended up winning group C of the Qualifier for the Concacaf U-20 Men’s Championship Guanajuato 2024, which will be held in the cities of Celaya and Irapuato from July 19 to August 4, and which will give the four semifinalists tickets to the World Cup of FIFA Chile 2025.
Tonight, at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores National Stadium, the “Bicolor” led by Mexican strategist Marvin Cabrera obtained another victory in the Qualifiers, this time against Curacao 0-1 with a goal from Olger Escobar (63). complicated match
When everything was looking for Guatemala to comfortably win its last duel, the Curacao team surprised our team and complicated the duel from the beginning to the end.
Guatemala took the ball in the first half and went to look for the goal that would open the scoring, but the defensive work of the visitors prevented the “Bicolor” from damaging Leandro Merencia’s goal. The chapines generated very little in the offensive, a situation that aggravated the plans that were in place for the first half of the match.
The second half followed the same line. But the difference was already mental, since the Guatemalans were beginning to be afraid of those ghosts from the past, despite the attempts that were made to open the scoring.
Among so much anguish, desperation, anxiety, and uncertainty, the blessed minute 63 arrived, when Olger Escobar managed to open the scoring and give joy and tranquility to the fans who arrived today in better numbers at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores National Stadium.
Héctor Prillwitz won the ball and took it down the right wing and won the duel against Shuvienchelo Hooi, before sending the ball to Matthew Evans, who with all class left the marks of Giordinelo Meulens and Luigi Inesia to assist Olger Escobar who finished low from entering the large area and beat Leandro Merencia’s shot to make it 0-1.
