Maritime operations in El Salvador have reached record figures for 2025, with a remarkable increase in general load mobilization and the ship’s bearing in the Acajutla and La Unión ports, according to reports of the Pacific Port Union (UPDP).
This growth has been promoted by the management of the Mixed Economics Society (SEM), composed of the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA) and the International Company Yilport Holding, which has led an operational and infrastructure transformation in both port enclosures.
In the case of the Puerto de Acajutla, there is a 51.75 % increase in the mobilized general load tons compared to the same 2024 period. Likewise, the average volume per boat has grown by 89 %, indicating greater efficiency in the use of the docks.

Bulk load has also shown an upward trend, with an increase of 68.9 %. Among the most mobilized products are corn, wheat and soy flour.
Among the key improvements include the authorization of the spring A, the acquisition of new machinery for container manipulation, the expansion of storage spaces and the optimization of logistics processes.

For its part, the port of La Unión has received 23 ships so far this year, mainly with fertilizers and rolled cargo, consolidating itself as a strategic point for the economic development of the east of the country and as a logistics hub of reference in the region.
The authorities also highlight the reduction in time of entry to spring, the increase in load flow and the expansion of port services as part of the modernization plan led by the UPDP.

These results, according to the Government, reflect the positive impact of strategic alliances on the strengthening of foreign trade, employment generation and economic growth of El Salvador.
