Guatemala interoceanic corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

The National Civil Police (PNC) paid tribute to its heroes deceased in the fulfillment of the duty in the period from May 2024 to April 2025.

As part of the solemn act, a minute of silence was dedicated to remember with respect and admiration:

• General Commissioner Mauricio Antonio Arriaza Chicas, General Director of the PNC.
• Commissioner Douglas Omar García Funes, deputy director of specialized operational areas.
• Commissioner Rómulo Pompilio Romero Torres, Deputy Director of Investigations.
• Cabo Abel Antonio Arévalo, member of the Police Specialized Tactical Unit.

In addition, his legacy, trajectory and his work that was transcendental for the security of the country was remembered, therefore, the honor seat located in the renders plans has the National Heroes Square where a bust of the Director General, General Commissioner, Mauricio Antonio Arriaza Girls, and commemorative plates of the other deceased police officers and a symbol of society.

In the commemorative activity, the participation of the relatives of fallen police officers in compliance with duty and the holders of the Extended Security Cabinet, Minister of Public Security and Justice, Mr. Gustavo Villatoro; Minister of National Defense, Vice Admiral René Francis Merino Monroy; and the Attorney General of the Republic, Mr. Rodolfo Delgado.

Minister Merino Monroy remembered the work with the general commissioner Arriaza Chicas, since the beginning of the Territorial Control Plan.

“Commissioner Arriaza Chicas was a person to whom Salvadoran society owes him a lot because it was the one who managed to change the work method of the National Civil Police and achieved integration with the beloved force.”

For his part, prosecutor Rodolfo Delgado said: “They will be remembered as heroes who honored the Republic until the last moment,” he also asked because his memory inspires firm and working for a savior safer and more worthy for everyone.

The Villatoro Minister was clear in saying that: «Within the career of weapons, either in the Army or in the Police, offering life is always, since their hand rises and sworn, therefore, they fully fulfilled their role as police as police, but it corresponds to us that all their lives do not spend in vain and continue living those dreams, those aspirations that they had to have a safer country.”

This 2025 is the second year in which no police have been killed by members of criminal structures. Police work has allowed once again no police family to disintegrate due to violence.
