What began as a game, recorded between tires and tools in a tire repair workshop in the United States, has become a worldwide phenomenon. Salvadorans Jorge and Rigoberto Amaya, together with Marlon Amaya – Padre, Uncle and Son – today known as 503 Llanteros, are breaking the statistics on Tiktok with their peculiar and energetic daily dances.

The three native of Santa Ana have managed to capture the attention of millions of users on social networks and have been mentioned by international celebrities such as Shakira, Karol G and Carín León. They have also participated in the production of a short film directed by the Oscar nominee Sam Davis, in addition to sharing scene with figures such as La Tenchis and Cuban actor Francisco Gattorno in the Salvadoran film La Ballad of Hortensia.

It all started with an improvised video to the rhythm of Mambo number 8, recorded by Marlon by suggestion of his mother. The clip went viral and opened the doors to a chain of digital successes that today exceeds 9 million views in some cases. “We didn’t know how to dance Mambo, but we got carried away … and in two weeks we had two million views,” recalls Mr. George.

One of the most memorable moments was when Shakira shared one of her videos and publicly congratulated them for dance in Barranquilla. Karol G also included them in one of his video clips with dancers, recognizing his unique and authentic style.

His charisma and energy have not only conquered followers, but also have emotionally impacted many. As they report, they have received messages from people who overcome difficult moments thanks to their content. “A person wrote us that he was about to suicide and when he saw us, he regained his mood. That is the greatest thing that has happened to us,” said Mr. George.

On their recent visit to El Salvador, they shared their emotion to meet their homeland. “It’s a dream come true,” Rigoberto said excitedly, while his son Marlon encouraged Salvadorans to never stop dreaming.

To those who criticize them, they respond with kindness and gratitude. “Thanks also to those who criticize us. Because even they have helped us to go far,” they say with humility.

With more than 70 years, Rigoberto does not plan to stop. “I still hit my dancer,” he says proudly. The message of the 503 llanteros is clear: “Get up and dance. Never say: ‘I can’t’. Everything is possible if it is done with the heart.”
