The Fourth Court against Organized Crime of San Salvador opened the criminal process against 48 students and former students of National Institutes, including 14 minors, accused of integrating “La Raza”, a new criminal structure arising in educational centers in the country.
The case, taken with total reserve, includes charges for crimes related to organized crime such as illicit groups, money laundering, proposition and conspiracy for homicide, counterfeit currency, sexual assault and threats.
The hearing had the exclusive presence of prosecutors, defenders and parents of the minors, who were transferred to the Chamber without being exposed to the media. The adults faced the audience virtually for the imposition of measures.
The captures were executed on June 24, 2025, ordered by the Attorney General’s Office, and took place in the General Francisco Menéndez (Inframn), Industrial Technical (Inti), Albert Camus and Military Civic Action, after investigations that lasted several months.
The authorities received information about criminal activities linked to this group in schools and surrounding areas. According to the Security Cabinet, “La Raza” had the objectives and police officers, against whom he directed his criminal actions.
The defense lawyers indicated that there are no forceful evidence that demonstrates the linking of their clients with the criminal structure, and denied that the defendants are part of “the race.” The process continues in development.
