Guatemala interoceanic corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

The president of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, offered on Tuesday a press conference with authorities from different institutions, after the sequence of earthquakes registered in the country from 3:11 p.m.

According to the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh), multiple tremors have been reported with magnitudes that range between 3.0 and 5.6, with epicenters located in areas near Sacatepéquez and Escuintla.

Given the seismic activity, the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) declared an orange alert throughout the country and issued recommendations for the population, emphasizing to keep calm and follow preventive measures.

During his speech, President Arévalo expressed a message of empathy for affected citizens and stressed that, although serious damage is not reported, it is essential to act responsibly. “We can be calm, but always with an attitude to prevention,” he said.

As a precautionary measure, the president announced the suspension of classes in the departments of Sacatepéquez, Escuintla and Guatemala. The face -to -face work in public and private institutions was also suspended, promoting teleworking to facilitate evaluation work by Conred, the Army and other emergency bodies.

The authorities continue in constant monitoring of the seismic situation, while inspections are carried out in the most affected areas.
