Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

The National Directorate of Municipal Works (DOM) delivered to the inhabitants of the Concepción de Oriente district, in La Unión Norte, a modern market that will benefit more than 7,000 inhabitants.

According to the authorities, the objective is to provide decent, safe and functional spaces for the development of commercial activity in this border area with Honduras.

They detailed that a two-level building was built with capacity for 61 commercial premises.

The new infrastructure, executed by Constructora El Salvador and financed by the DOM, was built in an area of ​​890 square meters.

In addition, it will help boost the local economy and strengthen formal commerce in the district.

The first level is made up of 34 stores, intended for the sale of clothing, footwear, dairy products, meats, fruits, vegetables, various items, as well as a beauty salon. In addition, this level has toilets, an electrical room, administrative offices and a pump room.

While the second level is distributed in 27 commercial premises and has a food area, where pupuserías, taquerias, parking spaces for food, clothing and footwear sales assistants operate. In addition, it has an electrical room and cellar.

Additionally, to guarantee accessibility to the population and vendors, the market is equipped with inclusive stairs, traditional stairs, exterior tactile signage, as well as its own control and electrical supply system, supported by an electrical transformer.

«I was one of the sellers who was in the old market. We all wanted a decent place where we wouldn’t get wet. And today our president Nayib Bukele has given us this beautiful market,” said María Magdalena Acosta, a beneficiary merchant.

The sellers highlight that the current Government is working on national market modernization plans with a significant investment, since the infrastructure is safe and modern.
