Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

You could say that, for now, but that for now could translate into perhaps a couple of decades, if not more; And it wasn’t that they did it so badly, it’s that they didn’t know how to tell it, sing it, because “the hen crows her eggs when she lays them” and they let the “others” create the narrative that they should have structured. That has been the capital problem of all left-wing governments in the world.

It’s that simple. So many “riots” occurred in all those years of armed conflict, and when the time came for the ideological and strategic battle for power, “they lost their temper.” Or better yet, they worked for themselves, instead of, for the people, they emulated what they always fought for, until they came to power.

Theorists talk about “cycles”, which now begins the cycle of a “right”, or an “ultra-right” if we can talk about right and left in these times; rather, a discourse of change of course in the economic commitment of the States and a different vision of seeing the world should be structured, in these times of technological openness and globalization. A recycling of the same methods, but with other actors in different latitudes.

But whatever it is, a change of ideological paradigm more radical than anything we have known until then is upon us. Now, despite everyone, an unknown way is arriving, if you will, of seeing and doing politics, of governing, in short, a new category of upstart leaders, a product of the disenchantment of nations that did not see any change in life in their traditional leaders and parties.

And this wave is sweeping the world from Australia to Patagonia, from Nordic Europe to Italy and Greece of the Mediterranean and Ionian seas, covering almost all of Central Europe and the Balkans.

And not long ago it landed in America, (after more than two decades of left-leaning governments) with the two terms of Trump, and it has been bursting with force into the South of the continent (the Argentina of Milei, the new paradigm of Chile and its unexpected turn, the Bolivia of the MAS, party in more than half; only the Brazilian dreams remain and a left in Colombia that I do not believe will make it past this electoral period that is already on their heels, (in this year) and that the micropowers will do everything to ensure that The Petro project fails and that is the epitaph of what could have been and was not to sweep away the unredeemed dreams of a purposeless left like that of Central America), which wanted to have one, coupled with the petrodollars of the Alba project of the Americas, but which sooner rather than later was the nonsense of the contemporary political history of this part of the world. Today there are the results. Because it must be said: without the arrival of Chávez, the wave of the left could have been a chimera: the one who provides the quarters is the one who gets the piece of music.

This January 27, a right-wing government takes office in Honduras that barely lasted 4 years outside of “poetry,” a right that never got used to being far from the centers of power, because from the birth of the Republic it directed public affairs. And that the new “Trumpist order” gave him the opportunity to return and reorder the geopolitical table in Central America, removing from circulation the last vestige of a left that did not know how to deal with the power that one day citizens tired of “bad politics” placed in its hands.

Honduras was because the influence of Venezuela was still a reality in the Isthmus, the Caribbean and part of South America, Honduras came to realize the government of Xiomara-Mel Zelaya, because that country had a political debt with Mel’s broken project and the well-known coup d’état. But Honduras was a reality of the last government of the left via popular election in the Isthmus, because it openly had the support of a Venezuela that still had hegemon in the region and that had not committed the electoral sin of depriving an election of a segment of its population that wanted real change. And today history is written in the worst way for those inside and outside who had their support and financing in the Chavista-Madurista leadership.

The left in the future does not have a leader in the Isthmus. In El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, who was never a leftist but an Outsider who played his role and today stands as the perfect example of the transition from a dying model to a new paradigm of power management. Nicaragua is the denial of a regeneration, but of an old regime that is increasingly distant from the new signs of history and that its proximity, whether with China or Moscow, not because of ideology, but rather because of economic convenience, does not allow it to give notice of change, quite the contrary. It is an autocratic model.

Again, we have to say that Honduras and its outgoing government did not see the signs of the people who wanted a more inclusive, more participatory, economically and less clientelistic government like all of their model. And in the electoral area, they have just “screwed up to four hundred”: they cannot allude to fraud, much less if it is not to their party that occupied a distant third place; rather, it is the punishment of a model that, although, and the call to vote for “Daddy to Order” made by Trump, (which was a clear intervention) was not going to prevent its collapse. And now they sanction a decree, which is clearly disproportionate and an error. Who are they going to count the votes one by one?

Nasry” Tito” Asfura did not win, the mistakes of that left made it easier and revived a party, the National, which clearly seemed impossible to win power, even though it has an enviable electoral structure, always ready to put up a fight. It could be said that those of the Libre party did some works in their period, but they did not say it, yes and no, what happens, which was too little, so that it could be noticed. And they resurrected a dead man, who could have lasted many years of burial or partying, and who, to the other candidate of the Liberal Party, Salvador Nasrralla, lacking strategy and vision of the State, ended up giving himself his coup de grace.

Without an electoral structure to defend the vote, you cannot win, because the elections are won at the polling stations, on D-Day, and even less so with an army of bad YouTubers and space on Facebook without any purpose, you cannot win that way. And speaking whatever he wanted and fighting with everyone. Which revealed a lack of political tact and integrity.

Why did the left leave Honduras as the last bastion of an illusion that was never real? Xiomara Castro’s government leaves power, and with it the left, because it had no identity of its own, but instead became the spokesperson for a political axis that did more harm than good. “Don’t defend me buddy.” He left power because they never excited the population, because they never provided a solution to the problems of health, security, economic well-being, in general, perhaps, his most successful result was in education and the accurate management of the problems of migration, but in the near future those results remain to be seen. They destroyed the state systems, for example, the electricity company, turning it into a shame for a country rich in water and other sources to produce energy, having to buy it more expensive than the other SICA countries in their common energy market.

With the fall into a political and social limbo of the Venezuelan regime after the early hours of January 3, there is very little that can be expected from the left of the Isthmus, which suckled on the oil breast of a country that enriched a group of politicians from that left who lived off their past and the meetings in which they went “to give each other straws” at the Sao Paulo Forum. Many of these leaders today see from the stands the frustration of their fellow citizens who trusted that they would get them out of poverty with the public policies they promised, but that only filled their pockets forever and ever. They are not all who are, nor are all who are. But there are and they have names and surnames. The problem is that there are no more souls to save. “Chelito” Trump arrived and ordered him to stop.
