The president of the republic, Nayib Bukele, yesterday led the First National Prayer Breakfast for El Salvador, which was held at the National Palace, in the Historic Center.
The event was attended by members of the board of directors of the Próspera Foundation – made up of senators and congressmen from the United States (US) -, the three bodies of the Salvadoran State and special guests, who met in an event that was consolidated as a space of spiritual unity, in which faith was the axis to promote values that strengthen peace and the shared vision of a country in transformation.
During his speech, President Bukele recalled the situation of violence that the country went through in 2022, in response to which measures such as the emergency regime were implemented to confront the escalation of violence generated by gangs on March 26 of that year.
“We didn’t know what to do, and then I said, ‘let’s say a prayer,’ and we prayed, we asked for wisdom, guidance, but above all we asked for something that was my greatest fear, and that was that when we went against them, there were 70,000 gang members, the human casualties would be minimal,” said the president.
He stated that there were no civilian casualties, in addition to going from being the most dangerous country in the world to becoming the safest in the Western Hemisphere.
These events, the president said, had no explanation other than being an answer to prayer.
«Our war against the gangs did not have any civilian casualties, to date; I don’t know how to explain it, except that it was the hand of God. No one can doubt it, it is reliable proof that God works when asked with faith, there is no way for anyone to deny it. If someone wants to deny it, I tell them: “come and explain it to me,” the president stressed.
Bukele emphasized the need to build a society in peace and with values, inviting all sectors to be part of this moment in Salvadoran history, in which the population lives with security and peace in their communities.
At the same time, he pointed out that as a country we are supporting nations in their work on security, as in the case of Costa Rica, so that they can also achieve stability in the public security of their territories.
“There are many things we want to do that are missing, and now we speak for them, not with greed, nor with avarice, because we have to thank God for what we already have, but with faith that God can work even more in our country, and we will always give glory to Him,” he expressed before dozens of guests.
For his part, the founder of Próspera Foundation, Manuel Espina, highlighted the achievements that El Salvador has had during the administration of President Bukele and highlighted the leadership of the president.
“We are going to remember President Bukele for the many successes he has had in his administration,” he stated.
Espina also noted: “In Scripture [Biblia] It says that if we lift up the name of Jesus, all things will be drawn to Him. So today, together in El Salvador, at the First National Prayer Breakfast in this country, we are lifting up the Name that is above all Name.
