The port of La Unión continues to promote the movement of maritime cargo in the country. In that sense, recently, it received the first ship of the year, from the People’s Republic of China.
The Prosperity 105 ship docked last Friday and was carrying 21,000 tons of cement. The disembarkation took place the same day at night.
“The Prosperity 105 ship demonstrates the sustained growth of port activity in that region,” stated the Government.
In addition, he highlighted that the reactivation of the port of La Unión not only boosts foreign trade, it also generates employment and opportunities for families in the eastern area.
Each port operation represents one more step towards national logistics modernization, strengthening El Salvador’s competitiveness in the region.
Recently, the president of the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA), Federico Anliker, assured that this is the first loose cargo ship to arrive at said maritime terminal.
«This day will be historic because a loose cargo ship arrives for the first time. “La Unión has become a hub for new cars, but we are also handling loose cargo,” Anliker said.
In addition, he reported that in 2025 more than 75 vessels were served in the port of La Unión, as part of the work of the Pacific Port Union.
«This is a mixed economy society, between the Government of President Nayib Bukele and Yilport, the Pacific Port Union is in charge of managing the seaports of El Salvador. In 2025 we served more than 75 vessels in the port of La Unión,” he noted.
